Biography


Dr. Ochiba Lukandu is a specialist in Oral Pathology having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Dentistry from the University of Nairobi in 1999 and a doctoral degree (PhD) in Oral Pathology from the University of Bergen in Norway in 2009. He also holds a Master of Science in Immunology from Moi University. He teaches at Moi University School of Dentistry where he has previously served as Chairman of the department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Pathology and also Chairman of the department of Dental Clinical Services. He participates in the teaching of Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine and Forensic Dentistry to both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the College of Health Sciences.
Dr Lukandu has worked as a consultant oral pathologist at the Moi Teaching and referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, Kenya since 2011 to date. He also serves as External Examiner at the Department of Dental Sciences, University of Nairobi. He has previously worked as the officer in charge of cancer prevention and control at the Ministry of Health in Kenya, a task that allowed him an opportunity to be involved in various cancer prevention and control activities at national and regional level. He previously served for two terms as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Cancer Institute of Kenya, a state corporation under the Ministry of Health.
