Dr. Lukandu’s research interests are mainly in the field of head and neck cancer with a focus on etiology and pathophysiology of cancer of the head and neck. His current research involves investigating the carcinogenic potential of various drugs of abuse, investigating malignant transformation and progression of benign oral tumors and pathophysiology or head and neck cancer. His other research interests are in the medical education, with a focus on improvement in the provision of dental education in developing countries. Dr Lukandu also has a strong passion for and interest in development of policy guidelines and strategies towards cancer prevention and control in Kenya.
