The department of Immunology boasts two Postgraduate programs. The MSc and PhD
in Immunology is one of its own kind in the region attracting national and international
students. She has joined as a faculty for teaching in the Clinical Pastoral Education
program at Moi University. She is also involved in teaching the HND Oncology program
at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH). She has also been appointed as an
External Examiner at University of Nairobi.
Prof. Patel is one of the two Allergist in the country and recently (2018) achieved a
Master’s degree in Allergy and Clinical Immunology from Imperial college London UK.
She is a member of Kenya Society of Immunology, British Society for Allergy and
Clinical Immunology and the Allergy Society of Kenya. During the COVID-19 pandemic
she had initiated the COVID-19 lecture update series for the school of medicine where
experts from all over the world participated in updating the faculty.
Prof. Patel has supervised 16 master’s students and 4 PhD students. She has 66
publications in refereed national and international journals. She has attended and had
oral presentation and poster presentations at various national and international
conferences.
Prof. Patel is the patron for Beyond Science Initiative Moi University chapter that
comprises of students and scholars that provides platform for outreach initiative that are
social and scholarly in nature. She is also a board member in the education committee
at the Sri Santana Dharma Sabha Hindu Temple and is in the COVID-19 task force in
the community. She is a member of Lions Club of Eldoret that has a mandate to serve
the community.
