Qualifications

2009 APRIL: Université de Franche-Comté (Besançon), France: Obtained PhD Degree in Applied Linguistics, Written Communication and Development Studies. PhD Research Title: Geocultural space, writing, text and the teaching of written French in the Kenyan context (L’Espace géoculturel, l’écriture, la texture et l’enseignement du français écrit dans le contexte kényan).

2002: Completed PhD Coursework (in the French educational system: Diplôme d’Études Approfondies, DEA) at the Université de Franche-Comté (Besançon), France. The field of study was Written Communication in a school setting. Research Topic: “Assessment of written scripts of Kenyan high-school learners of French as a Foreign Language with special emphasis on textualization mechanisms” (Évaluation des productions écrites de lycéens kényans au niveau intermédiaire du français langue étrangère, par rapport aux mécanismes de textualisation).

1997: Obtained the Master’s Degree in Education (M.Ed.) (Maîtrise) at the Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier III, Montpellier, France. Field of study: Pedagogy of French as a Foreign Language (Français Langue Étrangère).

1996: Obtained my second Bachelor’s Degree (Licence) (B.A. Education option), at the Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier III, France. Field of study: Language Pedagogy with emphasis on Pedagogy of French as a Foreign Language (Sciences du Langage option français langue étrangère).

1994: Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya: obtained my first Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B. Ed), Upper Second Class Honours, with English and French as my teaching subjects.
