Biography

Abraham Kiprop Mulwo, PhD

Prof. Abraham Mulwo is the Dean, School of Information Sciences, and Associate Professor (Development Communication) at Moi University where he has taught since 2004. Until recently, he  served as a member of the Task Force on Improving Government Information and Public Communication, which was tasked with advising Kenyan government on how to improve communication with its citizens. He also serves as a member of Nandi County Assembly Service Board where, amongst other responsibilities, he assists in strengthening public communication and citizen participation in county governance. Additionally, Dr. Mulwo is the Partner Coordinator of the Science Communication project offered by Moi University in Partnership with SciDevnet (with funding from Borsch Stifftung)  that aims to train Journalism students on how to report scientific information in mainstream media. Dr. Mulwo has also previously worked as a research consultant with UNESCO/Ministry of Education (Kenya), Centre for AIDS Development, Research and Education (CADRE, South Africa) among others. He has also facilitated research methodology courses with several international institutions including International Cancer Institute (May, 2020) Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (April 2017 and August 2018) and Organization for Social Science Research in Africa (May, 2012). Mulwo graduated with a PhD in Communication and Media Studies (University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) in 2010 and has since undertaken further training with several international institutions.
