Prof Chumba is a Holder of PhD in Educational management and Policy Studies. He taught Chemistry and Mathematics and served as High School Principal in various schools before joining Moi University in the year 2008. Since then he has taught Educational administration courses and research both at undergraduate and Post graduate level. Served as Teaching practice coordinator, School Time table Coordinator and a coordinator at CERM-ESA Moi university. Currently he is the chairman of School Graduate Studies Committee in the School of Education. He has supervised and examined several PhD and Masters students to completion. He is a peer reviewer of academic programmes for the Commission for University Education (CUE), Kenya. He is an External examiner of Kenyatta university and Maasai Mara University. He is a member of Kenya Association of Educational Administration & Management and Kenya Management Institute.
