Jamii ina mikakati mbalimbali ambayo hutumika wakati wa mazungumzo. Mikakati hiyo ni ya upole na ina kanuni kadhaa kuhusu namna ya kuwasiliana. Upole ni utambuzi ambao mtu humwonyesha mwingine kwa kuzingatia au kuepuka kaida au desturi fulani za mazungumzo. Ni hali ya kuonyesha heshima kwa washiriki wengine katika mazungumzo. Mikakati ya upole ni mbinu wanazobuni na kuzingatia wahusika wa mazungumzo ili ‘kuokoa nyuso’ zao. Makala haya yalinuia kuchanganua changamoto zinazosawiriwa na wahusika wa mazungumzo ya Sobetab Kapchi (Maisha ya Jamii) wakati wa utekelezaji wa kanuni za upole. Uchunguzi uliongozwa na Nadharia ya Upole, hasa mhimili wa ‘kuokoa uso’, kama ilivyopendekezwa na Brown na Levinson. Sampuli iliteuliwa kimakusudi kwa kunasa vipindi vinne vya Sobetab Kapchi (SK) ili kupata data za uchanganuzi. Mwisho, hoja zinazohusiana na upole zilinakiliwa na kuwekwa kwenye makundi manne ya mikakati ya upole ili kuchanganuliwa. Makundi hayo ni ya mkakati wa kuwa kwenye rekodi, mkakati wa upole chanya, mkakati wa upole hasi na mkakati wa kuwa nje ya rekodi. Uchanganuzi wa data ulifanywa kimaelezo kwa kutumia mazungumzo ya washiriki kama mifano halisi. Matokeo ya utafiti yalionyesha kuwa wahusika wa mazungumzo ya SK hukumbana na changamoto nyingi wanapotekeleza mikakati ya upole wakati wa mazungumzo.

Makala hii inahakiki kiulinganishi mbinu za lugha kama zilivyotumika katika tamthilia zilizotafsiriwa za Mkaguzi Mkuu wa Serikali (MMS) (Mwakasaka, 1979) na Mkaguzi wa Serikali (MS) (Madumulla, 1999). Mbinu zilizorejelewa ni kama vile chuku, uzungumzi nafsia, kejeli, matumizi ya barua, kinaya, matumizi ya ndoto, kuchanganya ndimi, misemo na nahau. Nadharia ya Uamilifu katika Tafsiri; Mtazamo wa Kuhakiki Matini ilivyopendekezwa na Reiss (1977) iliongoza utafiti huu. Mtazamo huu wa Kuhakiki una mihimili miwili iliyokuwa msingi wa kutekeleza kazi hii, nazo ni; utambuzi wa kuhakikisha kuwa, kuna utoshelevu wa kimaana, kisarufi na kimtindo katika lugha lengwa kwa minajili ya kuuwasilisha ujumbe kwa wasomaji wake na kaida za matumizi ya lugha na uelewa ya kwamba kwa ajili ya mawasiliano, maana ya neno hurejelewa kwa kuhusishwa na maneno mengine yanayohusiana na mada au muktadha wa diskosi inayozungumziwa. Tamthilia za Mkaguzi Mkuu wa Serikali na Mkaguzi wa Serikali ziliteuliwa kimaksudi. Katika utafiti mwandishi anarejelea maonyesho yote yanayopatikana katika matini pokezi zilizoteuliwa. Ukusanyaji wa data ya makala hii ulifanywa kwa kuzisoma kihakikifu matini zilizoteuliwa, kisha kuchanganua kiulinganishi mbinu za lugha katika kila kitabu. Ilibainika kwamba, kuna tofauti katika matumizi ya mbinu za lugha katika tafsiri ya vitabu; Mkaguzi Mkuu wa Serikali na Mkaguzi wa Serikali hata kama watafsiri wanashughulikia matini asilia moja. Uwasilishaji wa data ulifanywa kiufafanuzi na matokeo ya uchunguzi huu yatachangia marejeleo yanayohusu tafsiri linganishi.

This paper is a report of a study carried out in 2017 in Public Primary Teachers,’ Colleges (PTCs) in Kenya, Rift Valley Region. The study sought to establish the attitudes of tutors on ICT integration in teaching Kiswahili in PTCs and was guided by Social Cultural Theory (SCT). The inquiry employed sequential mixed methods design and pragmatic philosophical paradigm. Purposive sampling was used to select five PTCs, 36 tutors, all second year student teachers, five Deans of Curriculum and Director e-Learning at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD); stratified random sampling was used to get 232 student teachers from the colleges. Data was collected using questionnaire, structured

observation and interview schedule. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively, presented using tables and bar graphs in frequencies and percentages while qualitative data was analyzed and presented in themes. The investigation found that

tutors’ attitudes on application of ICT integration were positive; they were enthusiastic of the new technology. Though the tutors had positive attitude they did not integrate, they failed to utilize ICT integration in the teaching of Kiswahili thus

it was not a practice the PTCs. The researcher recommends that, KICD to organize in-service trainings (INSETs) for all the tutors in PTCs on ICT integration in the teaching of Kiswahili. ICT integration in teaching Kiswahili should be mandatory and tutors who integrate should be motivated.

The description of syllable structure in the individual languages is important in realizing syllabic markedness which motivates re-syllabification in the recipient

language. The paper therefore is an analysis of re-syllabification of Kipsigis and Tugen loan words borrowed from Kiswahili langauge. The paper also gives an overview of the syllable structure in Kipsigis and Tugen as the recepient languages and Kiswahili as the source language. Data analysis was guided by consonant vowel (C.V) phonological framework. The study found out that resyllabification is a morphophonological process during word formation in any given language.
