  1. Awarded USD 5150 by UNESCO to support the First International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management Co-hosted by the Technical University of Kenya and Moi University. August 24th-26th 2016.
  2. Proposal to establish American Spaces at Moi University, Nairobi Campus, awarded USD 60,000 to establish the American Space Centre in 2013.
  3. Developing a Comprehensive Data and Information Sharing Protocol for Lake Victoria Basin for the EAC Partner States. Funded by Lake Basin Commission under LVEMP II at tune of USD 85,000. Lead Consultant: Prof. Joseph Kiplang’at assisted by Gabriel Kangoha. The Output was a Protocol adopted by Inter-Ministerial Conference of EAC Partner States in August 2013.
  4. Mapping and auditing of agricultural indigenous knowledge in Kenya: a case study of Uasin-gishu and Keiyo districts. Principal Researcher, Prof. Joseph Kiplang’at and collaborating researcher Prof. Daniel C. Rotich. Funded by Moi University Research Funds (Kes 500,000=). Findings presented at the 4th Annual International Conference of Moi University, 29th-31st July 2008. The Findings were also presented at the World Congress of Agricultural Information Specialists and IT, Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan 24th-27th August 2008.
  5. An Evaluation of the effectiveness of the strategies used in the provision of tourism Information in Kenya. Principal researcher: Dr. Joseph Kiplang’at and collaborating researcher- Evans Munge. Funded by Moi University Research Funds (Kes 250,000=). Findings presented at the 3rd Annual International Conference of Moi University, July 31st -3rd August 2007.
  6. Application of Advanced Information Technology for emergency response among Humanitarian Relief Organizations in East Africa and Great Lake Regions. Funded by the National ScienceFoundation of the US (USD 300,000). Principal researcher Prof. Mark Haselkorn, University of Washington, Warigia Bowman- Harvard University, Prof Cephas Odini, Dr. Joseph Kiplang’at (Moi University). Findings Presented at a workshop on Information and Communication Systems in Humanitarian Action: Developing an agenda for Active Interdisciplinary Research. Great Rift Lodge, Naivasha, 8th – 10th June 2006.
  7. Diffusion of information and communication technologies in communication of agricultural information for rural development in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Project funded by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation (CTA), the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) under the Gender Agriculture and Rural Development in Information Society (GENARDIS) Project. (Euros 5000). (Findings presented in Arusha on 17th-22 Oct 2004 and published in ICT Update Journal.
