Biography

He is a Family Physician and Senior Lecturer. He has 12 years’ experience as a Family physician, a primary care researcher, trainer and Mentor of both undergraduate and graduate students at Moi University College of Health Sciences. He serves as the Family Medicine departmental coordinator (DPC) and thematic head.

He is a member of Kenya Medical Association, Kenya association of Family Physicians, Kenya Hospices and Palliative care association and African Palliative Care Association.

Prior to joining Moi University, Dr. Amisi had worked with the Kenya Ministry of Health as a Family Physician rising through the ranks to serve as Medical superintendent of Longisa County Hospital (Bomet County) and Iten County Hospital (Elgeyo-Marakwet County)

Dr. Amisi is a practicing Family Physician, a trainer; involved in training of various healthcare workers in the primary care setting, supervises post graduate research dissertations and thesis writing and also participates in primary care research. He has contributed to 11 peer reviewed, published research work.

He is currently a lead-physician in a community centric program called BIGPIC (Bridging Income Generation with grouP integrated Care. This is an innovative program that takes care of about 15,000 members of a community in Western Kenya through a community centric program that links Wealth and health needs through group-based care. The project in existence since 2016 uses population health principles, specifically innovative health models and strategies that focus on eliminating preventable diseases of public health interest. The project has established 210 microfinance saving groups with a membership of over 4000.
