I currently teach bacteriology (both undergraduate and postgraduate) and mycology (postgraduate).

I have made significant contributions to science through a project grant (2006 – 2010): Global Fund Round 5 Tuberculosis: Establishment of a Regional Centre for TB Genotyping and Surveillance at Moi University School of Medicine. Total Grant: US $ 1 700 000.00. From this grant we established a modern Mycobacteria / TB laboratory at the College of Health Sciences, Moi University. A number of publications were made from this grant using the lab. A vehicle (KAY 037 V Nissan Double cabin hard body) was also bought.

I have also participated as a reviewer of manuscripts for 3 international journals: Emerging Infectious Diseases Journal (International journal run by CDC) (2012); BMC Infectious Diseases Journal (2014); African Health Sciences Journal (2014).

I have also mentored a number of academic members of staff (Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry: MPH/MPhil/PhD studies, manuscript writing proposals/grants writing). I have examined a number of post-graduate theses from which a number of publications have been made.

I also received a grant from the Global Fund (2011-2015) of US $ 581,395.00: Acceleration of quality DOTS expansion in Kenya in order to achieve and sustain national TB control targets in line with Global TB control targets and the Millennium Development Goals. From this grant more the 150 TB field officers were trained in TB operation research. I have also established partnerships with some institutions with the aim of advancing science. University of Oslo (Institute of Health and Society), Linköping University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Health Africa and National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, The Netherlands.
