Biography

Gabriel Kigen is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Moi University School of Medicine; College of Health Sciences. He graduated as a Pharmacist from the University of Nairobi in 1987 and obtained his PhD in 2009 from the University of Liverpool, UK (Department of Molecular and Clinical Pharmacology; https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/translational-medicine/departmentsandgroups/molecular-and-clinical-pharmacology/, Institute of Translational Medicine: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/translational-medicine/postgraduate/ and http://www.hiv-druginteractions.org/). His main research interests include Personalized Medicine, Pharmacogenomics, Drug‐drug interactions, Nanomedicine and Ethnopharmacology. He is currently engaged in several research activities including Personalized Medicine, Nanomedicine, Neuropsychiatric genetics of African Populations and documentation of Kenyan Ethnomedicine. He is also involved in a number of Clinical trials including research of potential treatments for PTSD and AIDS‐related cancers; and prophylactic use of antibiotics during labour to prevent maternal and neonatal infections.
