Geoffrey K. Riungu conducts research in the area of tourism and recreation, and hospitality. Specifically, in the area of park and outdoor recreation planning; tourism geography; and tourism development through special events and community participation. His expertise is in visitor/tourist distributions using GPS, social carrying capacity, agent-based simulation modeling, managing visitor experiences, and events management. He has conducted and contributed to several research projects in the U.S.,China and Kenya.
Geoffrey is a CPA and has experience working in the microfinance sector.
The overall intent of Geoffrey’s work is to be actively involved in developing a competent tourism workforce and promote the sustainable use of tourism and recreation resources.
