bio

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine. I obtained my medical degrees from University of Nairobi, and an Executive MBA from Moi University. I was awarded Fellowships (FCP & FRCP) from ECSACOP and RCP-Edinburg respectively, where I am also a member. I am a practicing Specialist Physician with several years experience in various aspects of Internal Medicine, with a bias in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.  I have a passion in imparting knowledge and sharing experiences with my students, both undergraduates and post-graduates, and using the same to provide quality care to patients. My main research interests are in prevention and treatment of liver diseases, gastro intestinal tumors and in clinical trials in hepatitis and HIV/AIDS, which have informed care in HIV infected population. It is my hope that through these research works, cure will eventually be found.

I have also held administrative positions in the university and the hospital; I was the Chair, Division of Medicine in MTRH, Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator, Associate Manager Clinical Services in AMPATH, and immediate past COD, Medicine. I was instrumental in the set-up up of GI/Liver Clinic at MTRH where currently I am the Consultant I/C, and in structuring the clinical care and teaching in the wards into small operational teams.
