My key research interests are in the region of audience studies (African youth sub-cultures), social media, discourses on media and democracy in Africa, Mixed research approaches and Ethnography. In my PhD, I did an interdisciplinary mixed study on social media use. The central thread that runs through my research endeavors is the use of mixed-methods research approach in unearthing young people’s information reception patterns and practices, presented and represented through social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram among others. More specifically how young people refashion these relatively new spaces for self-expression and articulating issues that ‘matter to them’
