BIOGRAPHY

Jamin Masinde is currently a Professor of Sociology & Gerontology in Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India. He has been teaching in the Department of Sociology and Psychology, Moi University from 1989, rising from the position of Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor. Has taught and supervised several masters and doctoral students. Academic areas of research include Rural Sociology, Gerontology, Participatory Development and Research Methodology. Has been a Chair of department and Campus Director. He is involved in several joint research projects as well as initiated local and global institutional collaborations. He has widely published, attended and presented papers in Conferences, Seminars and Workshops both locally and internationally.
