Prof. Mary Wahome is an energetic, intelligent, focused, experienced and competent Kenyan female professional who is enthusiastic and passionate about quality teaching, research, Higher Education Management, Mentorship and service in the University, the local community and humanity at large. She has done quality teaching in Moi University for over thirty years since her first employment in 1992 as a Graduate assistant. She has successfully taught, supervised and examined students to completion from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. She has done quality research in her area of specialization is in Moral Philosophy as exemplified by her Masters and PhD thesis. She served as a Head of Department of PRT (2012-2016). She also served as Associate Dean (2016-2021), Ag. Dean, 2021-2022, and Dean (2022 to date). As Dean, she has also spearheaded Curriculum Review of various Undergraduate and Post graduate Programmes. She has participated in forging collaborations and partnerships both locally and internationally. She is also the Local Director, Confucius Institute of Moi University (CIMU). She has done research on early adolescence through the African Christian Initiation Program (ACIP) a Consultancy within the Department of Philosophy, Religion & Theology which is involved in training and mentoring adolescence. More than one hundred alumni have been mentored through the program. She is one of the founder members (ACIP which was founded in 2004). She is a trained internal quality auditor through KEBS on ISO matters and participates in internal quality audits in Moi University as a lead auditor. She is a member of various Senate Committees of Moi University. She is a DAAD scholar and has been competitively selected and successfully trained in Leadership and Higher Management Programs including Universities’ Graduate Tracer Studies, International Deans’ Course and DIES/ National Multiplication trainings (NMT). She is also trained through PASGR on Pedagogy (PEDAL) and has participated in trainings in many African Universities. She is self-driven/motivated and a team player who interacts easily with other people irrespective of their backgrounds. She is optimistic, hardworking, committed, dedicated, responsible and a dependable individual with high moral values and integrity.


She is a member of Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence, Bayreuth University, Germany and a Board Member of the Moi University African Cluster Centre (MU-ACC). In the first research cycle of MU- ACC, she was Research Section (RS) Moralities Spokesperson in line with her area of specialization.


After the successful completion of the first research cycle, a new project has come into being; Moi University Africa Multiple, Research Centre (MU-AMRC). In this project, she is an active member of In (Securities) research session.
