Dr. Myra Koech is a qualified pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist. She is currently teaching both the undergraduate and post graduate students in the department of child health and pediatrics, where she doubles up also as the chair of the department. In the past 10 years she has been actively leading in the scaling up of cardiology services in the western region of Kenya. This includes both the adult and pediatric care, and has consisted of continuous patient care, training of personnel as well as lobbying for infrastructure availability. She is actively engaged in research work; both with local and international collaborators and has published several papers in peer reviewed journals. Her work also includes student mentorship and research supervision, policy contribution both in the academic and the clinical areas. Her goal is to insure continuous improvement in student education and patient care delivery.
