Dr. Gladys Akama is a Dental Surgeon  with  a Masters in Dental Surgery (Periodontology).  Currently, she is aLecturer at the School of Dentistry, in the Department of Community, preventive Dentistry and Periodontology and the Ag  Chair of the Department. Previously, she worked as a dental officer with the Ministry of Health (1998 t0 2000) and later as a senior dental officer in Moi Teaching and Referral hospital (MTRH) before joining Moi University. She is a member of the Kenya Dental Association, Kenya Medical Association and Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists council. Her responsibilities at the university include teaching, both theory and clinical/practical, of all departmental courses; Course coordination of COBES II program in the College of Health Sciences. She is also an active member of the MTRH Periodontology  team wheres she participates in the clinical management of patients. She is a member of several committees in the university, College of Health Sciences and School of Dentistry.
