Philomena is a Tutorial Fellow in the Institute of Biomedical Informatics, Moi University. She is also a Fellow of University of Nairobi (Health Informatics). She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students in varied courses in Health information Systems and Communication Systems. Her research focus is on applications of Information and Communication Technologies in health. She has developed, implemented and evaluated digital health solutions for healthcare facilities in Kenya. Philomena has also been involved in the HIV/AIDS capacity building project led by UNITID of University of Nairobi as tutor and a supervisor in the Health Informatics track since 2013. She has also been involved in the development of curriculum and eLearning content for various health informatics courses for different levels of study. Philomena is a Member of Kenya Health Informatics Association (KEHIA) and Norwegian Research School in Global health (NRSGH) professional bodies.
