Professor Omar Egesah: Research Interests

Involved in more than 40 scientific research, consultancy and training engagements that are contextual, national and international, in the areas of culture and reproductive health, only 7 most notable & recent:

  1. Project: May 2020, RS Mobilities MU-ACC & University of Bayreuth, Germany- Framing Identities from Human Agency Mobility on the Kenya-Uganda Highway;

  2. Project: 2016-2021: AMAS Project- Intra-Africa Mobility Scheme- Academic mobility across 5 African Universities for Master, Doctoral Students and Staff. European Union funded Moi University project;

  3. Consultancy: 2017-2018: Uongozi Institute Project- The Influence of Culture on Leadership Learning and Development in Societies of Western Kenya. Funded by Uongozi Institute, Tanzania;

  4. Project: 2015-2017: UNITRACE 2.0 Project- Training 24 Managers/Administrators & Academics in University Graduate Tracer Study (GTS) drawn from East African Universities; DIES/ HRK/DAAD/CUE/IUCEA/University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) & Moi University (MU) Project. Training by four workshops and two online mentorships;

  5. Project: 2013-2017: World Vision International (WVI) Evaluation- Co-Investigator on the Child Health Targets Impact Study (chTIS) on Evaluation of Ministry of Health & World Vision chTIS projects in four World Vision ADPs (Karemo, Katito, Magunga, Kegonga/Ntimaru); a multi-sites WVI project in Kenya, Zambia, Guatemala, Cambodia, Jointly by School of Public Health Moi University & SPH Johns Hopkins University;

  6. 2011-2014: Social Scientist & Researcher on WHO Pregnancy Outcome Register. A Pilot & Feasibility Study by WHO, Regarding Medicines used by Pregnant Women & their Effect on Pregnancy Outcomes: Done in Kenya (Webuye/Bungoma), Tanzania, Uganda & Ghana;

  7. 2004-2005: Co-Investigator on the Study - Assessment of Clinical and Traditional Male Circumcision Services in Bungoma, Kenya: Complication Rates & Operational Needs. A Health & Ethnographic Study: AIDSMAK/PSI/USAID. The Project nested my PhD.
