Biography

Ann Wanjiru Mwangi is an Associate Professsor of Biostatistics, School of Science and Aerospace Studies, Moi University. She has been involved in training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students at Moi University College of Health for over 10 years. She has served as the Acting Director of the Institute of Biomedical Informatics. Also within the Academic Model Providing Access to Health Care (AMPATH) she serves as Co-Director of the AMPATH Data and Analysis Team (ADAT) where she oversees data management and analysis of various research projects. In terms of research, she has over 15 years’ experience in grant writing, study design and high level statistical analysis that has resulted in several funded grants and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her research interests are in Causal Inference, Data science, survival analysis and statistical methods for using observational data for clinical decision making in resource limited setting with application in HIV, Oncology and Chronic Disease among others. She is currently serving as a Co-PI in two capacity building projects: Moi/Brown Fogarty D43 “Moi-Brown Partnership for HIV Training in Biostatistics” and NYU/Moi Fogarty grant” Data Science for Social Determinants of Health”. She also recently in collaboration with researchers from Brown University received an NIH grant: “Data Science for Decision Support in the HIV Care Cascade”.
