Erneo is Lecturer in various course units in communication, journalism, public relations, and law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 2011. Between 2012 and 2021, Erneo has supervised to successful completion six PhD and fourteen Masters theses students. He doubles up as Nairobi campus School of Information Sciences Coordinator, and Coordinator of programmes in the Department of Publishing, Journalism & Communication Studies, in the School of Information sciences – Moi University, Kenya.

He is a sessional consultant for a number of organisations, among them, Deutsche Welle Akademie (in the “Media Futures East Africa” Project), KLA, AMWIK, Internews, AKU-Nation Media Lab, AKU-Standard Group Lab; KEG; MCK

Erneo is formerly Standard Media Group Associate Editor-Legal, and Bench Watch Columnist. He is an award winning journalist - Kenya Union of Journalists’ “Court Reporter of the Year” (2004).

He is a member of various professional bodies: Law Society of Kenya; East Africa Law Society; Chartered Institute of Arbitrators –Kenya; Media Council of Kenya; East Africa Communication Association; Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa; Kenya Editors Guild (where he sits in the Legal and Ethics committee) and; New Dispensation Communication Scholars Society (where he is President).
