Biography

Joseph Kiprop Chepkwony is an assistant lecturer of Oral biology, Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry in the department of Paediatric dentistry and Orthodontics in the School of Dentistry. He is a holder of master’s degree in Biochemistry from University of Eldoret.

Mr Chepkwony teaches human dentition and tutors genenal and systemic pathology and oral health. Currently he is specializing in drug discovery and development from natural resources (plants), determine their efficacy, possible mode of action through gene expressions and their safety. He has made presentations both locally and internationally. Since 2012, Mr.Chepkwony has served as an assistant lecturer of Oral biology, Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry in the department of Paediatric dentistry and Orthodontics in the School of Dentistry at Moi University, Kenya. His main areas of research interest include: Drug discovery and development from natural sources (herbal medicine)and comparative genomics, proteomics and metabolomics of cancerous cells and normal cells. He has succeeded in designing genes (SSU1 (Sulphite efflux presentations both locally and internationally pump), MEP 2 (Metalloprotease 2), SUB3 (Subtilisin 3)and DPPV (dipeptidyl-peptidase V)of Trichophyton interdigitale formarly Trichophyton mentagrophytes, exposing them to Salvia nilotica leaf extracts and checking their expression as a mode of action.
