Joseph K Rono, PhD is a senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Psychology at Moi University in Kenya. Dr. Rono obtained his B A Hons from Panjab University in 1987 and a Master of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Nairobi in 1992. Between 1989 and 1995, Dr Rono taught at Kenyatta University. Dr. Rono obtained his PhD degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, in 2002. Since 1995, Dr. Rono has taught and examined sociology courses at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels in the core areas of sociological theory, criminology, rural sociology, globalization and political sociology. He has published in the areas of social problems including Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs), drugs, alcoholism, farm crimes, female genital mutilation, refugee studies and Police reforms. Dr Rono’s current areas of interest include rural criminology, rural crimes and current issues.
