Biography

Dr. Richard Kipyegon Koech was born in Bomet County in Kenya in 1983. He received his B.Ed science degree in 2008 from Egerton University, MSc. degree in Physics (Renewable Energy option) in 2012 from Moi University in Kenya and a PhD degree in material science and engineering (Energy materials) from African University of Science and Technology (AUST)-Nigeria in 2022.

He joined the department of Mathematics, Physics and Computing in the school of Sciences and Aerospace Studies of Moi University in 2014 as a Tutorial fellow.

Dr. Koech's PhD research focused on the study of the effects of additives on the performance of perovskite solar cells. His current research interests include materials for solar cells and energy storage, solar thermal systems and hybrid photovoltaic thermal systems. He has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and he is a member of Africa Materials Research Society (AMRS) and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
