Prof. Tenge is a specialist General Surgeon and Paediatric Surgeon with Kenya Medical Practitioner and Dentists Council recognition.

He has General Surgery training from the University of Nairobi (1996) and Paediatric Surgery from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa (2005).

He is also a founding Fellow of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA) 1999.

His administrative duties in Moi University include:- Chair of the department of Surgery and Anaesthesiology for 2 terms, and now holder of both positions of Ag. Dean School of Medicine and Ag. Principal College of Health Sciences.
