I studied Zoology, Botany and Education at University of Nairobi and graduated with a B.Ed. (First Class Honours) in 1981. I was awarded M.Sc. Scholarship in December 1981 to study M.Sc. Biology of Conservation at the University of Nairobi till 1983. In 1985, was awarded a Ph.D Scholarship under the auspices of ICIPE and was trained at Kenyatta University where I obtained a Ph.D. in Biology of Conservation in 1989. Since 1983, I have been involved in Lecturing at the University and Tertiary Institutions, Administration, Research and Research Supervision, negotiating several grant proposals and agreements with donor agencies, project management and programme administration. I have attended numerous International and National Conference, Seminars and Workshops; professional courses; supervised over 19 D.Phil. theses, 35 M.Phil. theses & examined 40 postgraduate theses. I have also been an external examiner at Makerere University, Egerton University, Maseno University, the University of Nairobi and Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute. I have served in the following Administrative positions; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics, Research & Extension) (2006-2016)(Moi University), Head, Department of Tourism Management (Moi University) (2000-2006),Head, Department of Wildlife Management (Moi University) (1989-1999), Principal, Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (1996-1998), Deputy Principal, Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (1995-1996). I have also served in the following Acting Capacities – Ag. Dean, Schools of Natural Resources Management; and Business and Economics, Moi University; Ag. Principal, Chepkoilel Campus, Moi University. During this time, I developed Strategic Plans and Service Charters. I possess the following professional qualifications; In 1985 International Course, "Components Essential for Ecology sound Pest Management Systems' held at ICIPE Research Centre Nairobi. The activities include traditional dances, traditional songs, bull fighting, traditional foods and drinks and games. Member of School Board of Governors: Lugala Secondary School, Lugala Youth Polytechnic, Herrmann Gmeinner Primary School – Eldoret, Shabwali Secondary School, Chairman, Kimumu Welfare Society: Mobilizing the local community in organizing for the provision of water and electricity, and the maintenance of roads. Patron, Mujidi Welfare Society: Poverty alleviation strategies i.e. assisting local/rural communities to obtain sufficient food and other basic needs.
