About Me

Jamin Masinde holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India. He was awarded PhD scholarship by the Indian Council for Cultural Studies from 1998 – 2002 to undertake his doctoral studies in India. He has been teaching in the Department of Sociology and Psychology, Moi University from 1989, rising from the position of Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in November 2015. He was Head, Department of Sociology and Psychology from February 2012 to March 2017 for five years where he was in charge of eight-degree programmes ranging from Diploma, Undergraduate and Post graduate. Over time he has held responsibilities and served on a number of committees in School of Arts and Social Sciences and the University at large. He is now Director, Kitale Campus, a Campus of Moi University. He is involved in several joint research projects as well as initiated numerous local and global institutional collaborations. He has successfully supervised over 14 Masters and 6 Doctor of philosophy (PhD) students. He is currently supervising more than 10 MA and 8 PhD students. He is an Internal and External Examiner of various Universities in Kenya. He has attended and presented papers in Conferences, Seminars and Workshops both locally and internationally. He is a self-motivated, result oriented and a team player person.
