I am a Phytopathologist professionally with vast knowledge in Microbiology. I teach Phytopathology, Microbiology and related disciplines at the University. Besides, I am actively involved in research activities. A majority of the research I have carried out has been in the area of Biological control of plant pests and diseases, especially the use of rhizobacteria as biological control agents (BCAs) and their use in Plant Growth Promoting (PGP). The research projects I am currently involved include: 1) Nematology Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (NEMEDUSSA) funded by VLIR-UOS/Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, 2) Determining Nematode Damage and Mitigation for Increased Finger Millet Productivity for Food and Nutritional Security in Kenya funded by VLIR-UOS, 3) Enhancing Livelihoods of Smallholder Farmers in Western and Eastern Kenya through Agro-ecological Intensification with Sorghum based Interventions funded by the Mcknight Foundation. I am a member of the American Society for Microbiology. A couple of years ago, I discovered a natural dye from a common noxious weed, Tagetes minuta (Mexican Marigold) in a research activity led by Prof. Richard Mibey--the former Vice Chancellor of Moi University.
